Life moves pretty fast for us here at the Something Borrowed Head Office, with new partnerships being launched, so many curious brides to speak with and new challenges to consider as we grow the opportunity for more people to benefit from wedding dress rental, it sometimes feels a bit of a whirlwind. That’s why we recognise how important it is to pause, take a moment, and reflect on key moments throughout the year. Especially ones that offer us a true marker of how much Something Borrowed is expanding.
That key milestone right now was attending our second The Un-Wedding Show last month in London. You may have seen us there last year or saw us post about it on social, as it was such a great experience and an important moment for our brand. Back in 2022, attending the show and getting the feedback and comments we did, felt momentous. It cemented what we hoped - people wanted rental.
So, when our planning for shows for 2023 was in full swing, we just knew that The Un-Wedding Show was an event not to miss. Not only did we want to return and build upon last year, but we just couldn’t wait to meet so many more inquisitive brides who are genuinely looking for alternatives to the traditional, but also to stand alongside a collection of other businesses that hold the same values as we do and are also trying to make moves in the wedding industry.
The other exhibitors are obviously carefully approved by The Un-Wedding team as you can see quality is of the utmost across all those on show. Our neighbour, Francis + Louise, were showcasing their handcrafted printed accessories which are made in East London, and shared that she loved the concept of rental. Opposite our stand were the breath-taking florals of Henrietta Hickling Florals they had a stunning fresh flower display, with our founder Christie even being gifted a bunch of flowers from the display to take home. And we have to mention Rubbish Portraits, the founder Lucie was an inspiration, such a cool concept, and lives close by to Christie, who knew!
The whole show is so relaxed, which feels really important when brides and grooms are making big decisions about the day. We know it can be daunting so being part of such a friendly event gives us hope that clients feel comfortable approaching the stand and asking those questions. This year we noticed that more and more people have wedding dress rental on their radar, and now just wanted to know more. We got asked everything, from how does it work, how long can I rent for, how do I try-on, what happens if the garment is stained etc. Speaking face-to-face with our clients really enables us to discuss all these points and reassure them that everything is built into the service, and we are there to guide them as much as they need.
Attending The Un-Wedding Show was a big high for the first quarter of 2023, and we hope that if you attended you enjoyed it as much as us, perhaps we are welcoming you to our community after the event – if so hi! If you didn’t make it but have questions to ask, please get in touch and follow us on Instagram to find out where we will be next.
