At Something Borrowed you can buy and hire dresses from independent designers. We look after the delivery and, if you hire, the cleaning and returns too, so you can get on with your wedding.

Not sure which dress is right for you? Our home try-on lets you try up to three wedding and bridesmaid dresses, in any mix, at home for four days before committing to anything. It's £75, which comes off an order placed within 30 days, plus a £150 refundable deposit.

Your questions, answered
What if I'm not sure the dress will fit?
That's exactly what our home try-on is for. Try up to three wedding and bridesmaid dresses, in any mix, at home for four days before committing. It's £75, which comes off an order placed within 30 days, plus a £150 refundable deposit.
What if it doesn't arrive in time?
Hired dresses arrive on the first day of your hire, and we suggest starting your hire 2–3 days before the wedding. Everything goes with full tracking and we monitor every order. In the rare event something goes wrong, we're on hand immediately. And you're always dealing with us directly.
What about cleaning and condition?
Every item is professionally cleaned by our cleaning partners and checked before it reaches you, so it arrives pressed and ready to wear.
Can I cancel if my plans change?
Yes. If you cancel within 14 days of booking, and before your hire starts, we'll refund you in full. After that, cancel more than 28 days before your hire date and you'll get 100% of the hire value back as store credit, or 50% if you cancel within 28 days. Store credit lasts 12 months. If you only need to change your dates, there's a £25 admin fee. Our terms have the full details.
What if something gets accidentally damaged?
We're reasonable – minor wear is expected. For anything beyond that, we charge repair costs or the item value, and we'll always be transparent about what that looks like upfront.
Can I make alterations to my hired dress?
We allow temporary length alterations on bridal items at an additional cost, handled on a case-by-case basis. Please get in touch before your hire starts to discuss options.
