Adding Colour to your Wedding Day, Send in the Bridesmaids

We are well into the Spring season now, the garden is full of colour as are the shops with the summer collections in an array of shades and tones. Translating this through to your wedding, and bridal wear, takes careful consideration but once you get it right, that wedding colour palette will take your big day to the next level. Adding colour, whether that be subtle neutral tones or vibrant hues, adds personality to your wedding. Not only will the colours wow your guests on the day, but they will bring your photography and videography to life, creating special memories for years to come.

When approaching your colour choices for your bridesmaids there are several aspects you should take into account. Firstly, what is the overall theme of your day? What season are you getting married in? Where are you getting married? All of these key points will begin to steer you in the right direction, do bear in mind though that whilst traditional colourways are always a winner, you don’t have to stick to burgundy for a winter wedding and blush pink for a summer one. The rules are always there to be played with! You should also consider the bridesmaids colourings and what will suit them, as well as how this will be complimented by the groomsmen’s outfits, and most importantly elevate your bridal look?

This summer season is seeing a beautiful abundance of colour, the bridal trends are telling us that there are three key areas to be exploring. Firstly, greens are a real go to say the moment. Think muted greens like a classic olive or sage green, soft and earthy suiting bridesmaids with most hair colours and complexions but in particular paler skin tones and darker or auburn hair. In addition to this, a strong and deeper tone like a forest or emerald green, really suits medium to darker skin tones.

As always, neutrals and muted tones are still a big hit in bridal wear, adding an air of sophistication to any bridesmaid. A great option to suit any skin tone or hair colour, think gentle tones such as nude, mink and even a muted blue.

If your bridesmaids are up for something a little bolder, warm oranges are a fresh look for the summer and beyond. A less common supporting colour in a wedding palette but one that really does make the brides white or ivory dress stand out. A burnt orange or sunset colourway adds vibrancy whilst still keeping a natural element, which is just perfect for photography.

Of course, you could also mix and match these colours as the overall trends point towards a palette based on nature. This is another great way to enable your bridesmaids to express their individuality whilst ensuring you create a coherent overall look for your wedding day and photos.
