Refund policy

These terms apply specifically to the purchase of sample sale items through Something Borrowed Limited ("Something Borrowed", "we", or "us"). They should be read alongside our full Terms and Conditions. Where there is any conflict between these terms and our main Terms and Conditions, these sample sale terms take precedence.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under applicable UK consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

SECTION 1 - CONDITION OF SAMPLE ITEMS

Sample sale items are pre-loved garments sold as seen. They may show signs of wear consistent with previous use, which is clearly reflected in their reduced price. We make every effort to accurately describe and photograph each item, including any notable flaws, before listing.

SECTION 2 - CONSUMER RIGHTS

Sample sale items are non-refundable except where your statutory rights apply. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you may be entitled to a refund or replacement if an item is not of satisfactory quality — for example, if it has a significant defect that was not disclosed at the time of sale and would not reasonably be expected in a pre-loved item of that type.

Minor cosmetic wear, small marks, or signs of previous use that are consistent with the item's pre-loved nature and were visible in our listing photographs or disclosed in the product description do not constitute grounds for a return.

SECTION 3 - RETURNS

If you believe your item is eligible for a return under Section 2, you must notify us within 14 days of the delivery date (not the purchase date) by emailing contact@somethingborrowedrent.co.uk with your order details and a description of the issue.

To be eligible for a return:

• The item must be returned unworn and in the same condition as received, with no additional damage caused after delivery
• You must include proof of purchase with your return
• The item must be returned using a tracked delivery service — we recommend this to ensure safe receipt, as we cannot accept responsibility for items lost in transit

Return postage costs are your responsibility unless the item is being returned due to a significant undisclosed defect, in which case we will cover reasonable return postage costs.

Once we receive your return, we will inspect it and notify you within 5 business days whether it meets our return criteria. If approved, your refund will be processed to the original payment method within 14 days of that notification.

SECTION 4 - EXCLUSIONS

Returns will not be accepted in the following circumstances:

• The item was returned in a worse condition than when it was sold (i.e. with additional damage or wear caused after delivery)
• The issue relates to minor cosmetic flaws, signs of wear, or defects that were disclosed in the product listing or visible in the listing photographs
• You were notified of a specific flaw prior to purchase and proceeded with the order
• The return notification was made more than 14 days after the delivery date

SECTION 5 - HOW THESE TERMS DIFFER FROM OUR RENTAL TERMS

The terms for sample sale purchases differ from our standard rental terms in the following key ways:

• Sample sale items are purchased outright — they are not subject to rental periods, late fees, or return-by dates
• Sample sale items are non-refundable except in the limited circumstances set out in Section 2 above
• No rental deposit applies to sample sale purchases

These differences will be clearly indicated on each sample sale product page before you complete your purchase.
