We love sharing the stories behind our weddings - especially when they reflect the thoughtful, real-life decisions our brides make. Meet Maria, who married Liam on 1st September 2024 in Tuscany, with a celebration themed love & lemons.

From the outset, renting was always part of the plan.
“I’d been a bridesmaid a few times and knew you never wear the dresses again,” she shared. “Renting just made more sense and felt far less wasteful.”

While she considered renting her own wedding dress, she ultimately chose to buy due to her height and the level of alteration she’d need. But when it came to her bridesmaids, rental was an easy decision.

For her, the biggest benefit was knowing the dresses would live on beyond the day.
“They’re beautiful and deserve to be seen more than once.”

There were a few practical considerations - her shortest bridesmaids needed to buy, as the dresses couldn’t be altered to that degree - but overall the experience felt seamless.

The savings from renting even found their way into another detail of the day.
“It went towards matching pocket squares for the groomsmen,” she said.

When asked what drew her to Something Borrowed, she was candid.
“Of course it helps that a close friend owns the business,” she laughed, “but even if that wasn’t the case, the site is beautiful and the taste in dresses is just superior.”

She rented the dresses for a week, as the wedding took place abroad, and made full use of the home try-on service - especially important with a bridal party of different heights, body types and even a pregnant bridesmaid.

“It was so reassuring to see how everything fitted,” she shared. “And the whole process of receiving and returning the dresses was super easy.”

Her advice to other brides considering rental?
“Do it. You won’t regret it.”
